The Perky Nerd Is SoCal Comic Central

Tiffany Anne Price might be an Arizona native, but she's fully embraced the LA life, driving a sports car, performing a Hollywood Fringe-fest ane-woman show, and running her own comic emporium, The Perky Nerd.

Presiding over a comic store means Price often indulges in nerd matchmaking. When comic volume illustrator Erik Burnham did a signing at the first Free Comic Book 24-hour interval event, Feig wanted to nourish, but was out of boondocks, so he sent boxes of Twinkies for everyone to enjoy. Burnham had just started piece of work on Ghostbusters 101 and mentioned to Price that he'd love Feig to write the foreword.

"I did a joint email introduction to them both, and Paul said yes. Then, a few months after, Paul tweeted: 'What almost doing a panel when it comes out?' and here we are!"

At the recent issue, Robin Shelby, the vocalism of Slimer in Ghostbusters 2 (and Lady Slimer in Feig'southward near recent take on the franchise), was in the front end row, while fans in diverse states of dress-up, bombarded Feig with good-humored questions:

"Will there will EVER exist a sequel to Freaks and Geeks?" his late 90s Television receiver series, someone asked.

"I have an ambition to exercise information technology as a Broadway musical," Feig dead-panned.

When asked what other flick franchises, following on from Ghostbusters (2016), he'd similar to get his directorial chops on, he said: "Logan'southward Run is desperate for a reboot." And he confessed to getting choked upward, whenever he spots ECTO-one on the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City.

It was just some other cool weekend's event at The Perky Nerd, for Cost, in the kind of store she had always dreamed of creating.

"When I fix The Perky Nerd in April 2022," she told PCMag, "I wanted it to be an evolution of the standard comic store, taking inspiration from other places like Isotope (San Francisco) and Diable Blanc in Paris. I saw it as a infinite where folks could come up in and buy books, collectibles, bank check out fan fine art and cosplay, then grab a cup of joe, and chat about the latest MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) movie or geek out with like-minded others on concluding nighttime'southward episode of their favorite testify."

To encourage afterward-hours participation, Toll holds special panels and signings, similar the Feig event, as well as regular themed evenings such as THE PERKY B*TCHES (for 20 chromosomes), Reading RainBros (for dudes) and 10-wing Gamers (everyone welcome, as long as yous possess an cabalistic knowledge of Star Wars trivia, or are eager to learn).

With its close proximity to the Hollywood studios (Disney and Dreamworks are nearby), The Perky Nerd champions established and up-and-coming illustrators and writers, hosting regular comic book shows. If you're heading to Anaheim for WonderCon, swing past Burbank on the way back. It's fashion more mellow to fly out of the local aerodrome than exercise mad dash through LAX, and The Perky Nerd will be having a special event on Sunday, March 25, unboxing the latest Star Wars: Legion. Cosplay most definitely encouraged.
